To get feedback for the cover of my magazine I designed a questionnaire and gave it to six people in sixth form to fill in so I could get an idea of what people thought of the magazine and whether I had designed it well enough.
Here are three examples of the questionnaire that members of the sixth form girls filled out:
QUESTIONNIARE ONE

YES because it looks professionally put together, the colours are not conventional colours for a girls magazine but they do work well and it is not jam packed with articles that are in the magazine- very tastefully done

Do you think the cover looks professional? If so, why? If not, why not?
YES because the head of the model is over the title so she is not blocked which magazines tend to have and the main story has a background which makesit stand out so I can see what is the main story

Do you think the cover image is effective for a music magazine?
YES NO
Would you pick up this magazine from the newsstand? If so, why? If not, why?YES because the 'exclusive' banner was the first thing I saw so if it was something I knew I wouldn't get anywhere else I would definately buy itNO+ reason

If not, why?YES because I like the people the cover mentions- Taylor Swift and JLS so the cover appeals to me and also like I previously said, the girl on the front is about my age so I feel that what is inside will be appropriate for me to read

Do you like the look of this cover? What do you like?I like the pose the model is doing with the guitar, I think it works well but I think too much of her is covered by writing and the blocks of the 'exclusive' so I don't really like that
Do you think the cover looks professional? If so, why? If not, why?YES although I don't like it, I do think the cover looks professional because of the barcode, price and issue number and the 'free posters' and strip across the bottom all make it look professionalNO+reason
Do you think the cover image is effetive for a music magazine?YES NO
Would you pick up this magazine from the newsstand? If so, why? If not, why?NO because the artists mentioned aren't really the sort of people that I am interested in, this magazine is more pop music and I like rock so because of that I would not buy itYES+ reason
As you can see from these three questionnaires, I have managed to design the front cover accurately for sixth form because all of these examples went for the 16-18 age group and all thought that the magazine was aimed at girls which it is
However there were been mixed reviews about liking the cover, but the majority of people seemed to like the look of it and like the cover lines, so I think that I have been successful in creating a cover and coverlines that are appropriate for sixth form girls.
Even though some people did not like the front cover, all said it looked professional and a number of factors contributed to that- the model being over the masthead, the barcode and issue number, the gutter and free posters.
